Eagles Class Spring Term 2012
Poetry, writing confidently with metaphors, similes, personification and onomatopoeia. Non fiction persuasive and informative writing. Specific reading focuses throughout the week including, comprehension, guided reading and world news.
Learning about the country of Chile.
Looking at the differences in culture, geography, climate, religion.
Linked to our topic work we will take inspiration from Chilean Pop Artists to create our own Chilean themed Pop Art using printing.
Gymnastics: Creating and choreographing complex sequences including a variety of travels, rolls and balances.
Disability sports: We will be trying out a variety of disability sports which will be taking place in the 2012 Paralympics.
Learning to speak, read and write basic Spanish including greetings, numbers, about our families and Spanish culture.
Long and short division, division linked to multi stage problems. Shape and space, finding the areas and perimeters. Handling data and measure, linked to our Science investigations.
Interdependence and adaptation- Understanding and investigating plants, how they grow and what they need to survive. How animals and plants have adapted to their habitat.
Healthy Eating – What it means to be a healthy eater. Investigating what the food that we put in our bodies.
Creating stop frame animations using Windows Movie maker. Understanding the animation program and how much work goes into a short clip.
Homework will increase throughout this term for the Y6’s. This may include SATs practice questions which we will then go through in class. All children will continue to be given spelling weekly and will tested on multiplication and division facts regularly.
