What a brilliant way to end the term!

On Friday, 25th October, 21 children from Years 5 and 6, making up three teams, represented Gastrells at the Stroud District Netball Competition. Alongside 13 other teams from various Stroud schools, they competed throughout the morning at Wycliffe Sports Centre, showcasing an impressive level of netball.

Teams 2 and 3 played excellently throughout, and it was wonderful to see the progress many players have made, with some of them representing the school for only the first or second time. Team 3 battled to two wins and a draw but were unlucky not to make it to the knockout stages, narrowly missing out on goal difference.

After playing some incredible netball, conceding only once in the group stage and remaining undefeated, Team 1 advanced to the knockout stage. They first faced Leonard Stanley, and after a close start, Gastrells pulled away, winning the semi-final 6-0. This set up a rematch against Bluecoat School, whom they had recently played in a friendly fixture. In the final, Gastrells started quickly and played their best netball of the day, ultimately winning 8-0 and being crowned Stroud District Champions.
