At Gastrells, our Eco Council gives pupils a voice and the opportunity to make a positive difference to our school and the environment.
Our Eco Councillors share ideas, take part in discussions and work together on projects that help make Gastrells a greener, more sustainable place.
Our Eco Councillors have now been chosen following an application process, and we look forward to sharing updates about the projects and activities they get involved in throughout the year.
The Eco Council is led by Mrs Radway and meets every half term.
A local fundraising project aims to raise £10,000 to provide litter pickers, books and reading sessions for 45 primary schools across the District, benefiting over 7,000 children.
The fundraiser visited Gastrells before the summer holidays and donated 20 litter pickers to support pupils in helping to keep their local environment clean.
The project also promotes environmental awareness through school assemblies, litter-picking activities and community challenges.
Eco Council – Litter-Picking Heroes!
Our Eco Councillors and other keen pupils have been busy keeping Gastrells looking its best! Armed with our new litter pickers, kindly donated by a local fundraising project, the children head out around the school grounds at break and lunchtime to hunt down any litter they can find.
From stray sweet wrappers to runaway bits of paper, no piece of litter is safe! Our little litter-picking heroes are helping to keep our school clean, tidy and litter-free, while reminding everyone to take pride in our environment.
A big thank you to all our Eco helpers for making a difference, one piece of litter at a time!
