Firstly we would like to say ‘Thank-you’ for supporting our ‘wear what you love’ theme for Valentine’s Day. The children were super excited to show off their favourite items to their friends this morning.

As many of you already know a new committee has formed to run FOG, over the next couple of weeks we will be asking for your ideas/opinions and feedback on how you might be able to help support us continue to support Gastrells and enhance our children’s education, this will form a big part in the decisions that we make going forward.

We appreciate that life is busy and not everybody is able to give their time to help support at events. We’ve had some feedback from parents that they would like to set up a regular standing order each month to donate money, as we all know time is precious. If this is an option that you feel suits you best and would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to contact FOG. Alternatively please see the account details at the end of this letter.

If for example 50 families were able to donate £5.00 a month for a year, this would raise £3000 per year. There is no fixed amount, all donations are very much welcome.

It may also be that you are able to provide support in other way such as offering skills to help out with gardening, painting etc.

We will shortly be sending out a questionnaire that we hope covers all aspects of FOG and asking for your feedback so that we can model FOG around the support our parents/carers can help out with.

During the last 2 years FOG have raised over £15,000, enabling the School to purchase;

-The new interactive smart-boards for the classrooms

-New books for KS1 & KS2

-New hall blinds

-We’ve painted the classrooms, put money into the new sensory play area and partially funded last year’s pantomime trip.

Over the next year we have a £10,000 target to try and achieve, this will enable the School to purchase;

-36 laptops/chromebooks to enhance the learning for all children within the school, as the ones we have are out of date and shortly will no longer be able to function on the operating system.

We would also love to see some new and existing faces at our next FOG meeting on Monday 2nd March 2020 at 7:30pm at The Old Nelson. If you are unable to attend any of our meetings but have an idea that you would like us to discuss, please feel free to stop us in the playground, e-mail and let us know if you would like to join the FOG WhatsAppgroup.

We are very keen to hear your ideas.
