Are you interested in making a difference in the Community and gaining valuable work and life skills?

Do you have any of the following knowledge / experience? (not pre-requisites, just areas which would be useful):

  • Financial and / or Business
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Current Curriculum / Education Landscape
  • Previous governor / board experience

If so, being a Co-opted governor at Gastrells Community Primary School could be just the volunteer role for you.

Gastrells is a very popular school nr Rodborough, Stroud with a wonderfully friendly, dynamic and supportive staff as well as an enthusiastic and equally dedicated governing body. Our school community is a diverse mix and we pride ourselves on giving all our children a “flying start to a life of learning”.

We all work together to ensure that every child in our care is happy and safe and to offer them every opportunity to learn and to succeed during their time with us.

Like all schools, we have high targets to improve standards in education and, as the world and labour market continually change, it is vital that our children have the necessary skills to adapt.

Co-opted governors play a vital role in our team, and we would really welcome the perspective and input from members of our community.

The role is a rewarding and an effective way of making a voluntary contribution to the lives of local young people, as well as a great way to learn new skills yourself. There are plenty of training opportunities and you would be part of a supportive and passionate team.

If you are interested in our children’s future, have energy and enthusiasm, and want to help with the direction of our school’s future, please send an expression of interest or any questions to revans@gastrells.gloucs.sch.uk

Please take a look at our website to get a flavour of our school – Gastrells Website

Please note that all of our main meetings are on Tuesdays from 5pm (a couple every half term) and that there is a requirement to occasionally visit the school during school hours.
