At Gastrells, we foster an interest in language learning by introducing children to other languages in a way that is enjoyable and accessible to all pupils.

The core language taught in KS2 at Gastrells is Spanish. Gastrells celebrate and respect cultural diversity and encourage children’s curiosity about language.

Spanish teaching provides a balance of spoken and written language and  lays the foundations for further foreign language learning focusing on practical communication.

Our children regularly engage in Spanish cooking sessions and cultural activities such as fiestas.

Fiesta!

As part of our Modern Foreign Language learning we celebrate the culture and tradition of many Spanish speaking countries with a Fiesta! All of Key Stage 2 came to the party and made all the food. Goshawks all made their own individual piñata!

A great time was had by everyone!

120 children made over 500 pieces of Tapas to share at the Spanish Fiesta:

The Spanish Quiz – answer a question correctly and you can have a bash at the piñata!
