What is the Pupil Premium?

The Government has introduced the term ‘Pupil Premium’ to describe dedicated funding for all pupils who are Looked After Children, in receipt of Free School Meals or whose parents are actively serving in the Armed Forces. Recently, the Service Premium has been extended to include those whose parents have died in action and those whose parents have left the Service since April 2011 for other reasons, including injury.

Financial Support
If your child is eligible for the Pupil Premium then, subject to approval, we are able to support you with a variety of expenses related to your child’s education.

You can collect a copy of a Pupil Premium request form from the office.

What can you do? What can we do?
We would urge you, if your child is eligible for FSM, to apply so that we support your child’s education with the Pupil Premium funding. Examples of things we can support financially are:

  • Class trips
  • Residential trips
  • Music tuition
  • Uniform

We are keen to ensure that the financial resources available to support pupils are used in the best way possible.  However, if your child is eligible for Pupil Premium funding and there are any other areas of cost you would like us to consider supporting, please feel free to telephone and discuss this with us.

We are asking that ALL parents spend 10 minutes filling in the form on the below link. You may not currently qualify for a Pupil Premium Grant which will go to support you and your child(ren) while they are at Gastrells however if you apply and your circumstances change in the future, this should automatically be granted without you having to reapply. Responsibilities

The school Bursar is responsible for ensuring all Pupil Premium income and expenditure is accounted for accurately to facilitate reporting to the Leadership Team, Governors and the DfE

The Governors have overall responsibility for ensuring that the Pupil Premium funding is targeted at supporting the learning of pupils who have been identified as eligible for Pupil Premium funding using the above criteria

The Headteacher will implement and drive initiatives to support learning and monitor the progress of these students

The Headteacher will ensure that details of the use of Pupil Premium funding is published on the school website

It really does only take 10 minutes and all you need is your National Insurance Number.

If you do wish to talk any of the above through then do please get in touch with us [01453 765959 or admin@gastrells.gloucs.sch.uk]
